Ukraine loses leadership in steel smelting

In April, the Ukraine was the tenth largest global steel producer, having become the leader in falling of production. Steel smelting fell by 8.4% to 2.748 million tons versus April 2012, and by 4.1% less than in March. Steel smelting was 65.65 million tons in China (+6.8%), 9.17 million tons (+1%), and 7.3 million tons in the USA (-7.3%) in April 2013 versus April 2012. In January – April, it was 257.4 million tons in China (+8.4%), 35.8 million tons in Japan (+0.5%) and 28.76 million tons in the USA (-7.3%).

In January – April, Arcelor Mittal Krivoy Rog increased rolled steel production by 11%

In January – April, Arcelor Mittal Krivoy Rog increased the production of rolled steel by 11% to 1.956 million tons, raw steel by 2% to 2.088 million tons and cast iron by 1.7% to 1.817 million tons. In April, the enterprise declined production of cast iron by 17.4% to 411,000 tons and raw steel by 17.71% to 475,000 tons and increased rolled steel production by 2.2% to 496,000 tons.

In Q1, Arcelor Mittal Krivoy Rog increased steel smelting by 10%

In Q1, Arcelor Mittal Krivoy Rog increased steel smelting by 9.7% to over 1.613 million tons of steel, setting a 5-year record in monthly dispatch of its products. Cast iron yield was 1.405 million tons (+9%), and rolled steel yield was 1.412 million tons (+10.7%).

From the beginning of the year, ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog increased steel smelting by 10%

According to current data, in January-March of 2013, the Krivoy Rog’s mining-and-metallurgical integrated works ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog (the Dnepropetrovsk region) increased the production of finished rolled metal by 11.2% as compared to the same period of 2012 to 1.419 million tons.
As the enterprise’s representative reported to the Interfax-Ukraine, from the beginning of the year the steel production grew by 10% to 1.617 million tons, and cast iron – by 9% to 1.405 million tons.

Kazakhstan increased oil products imports from Russia

Kazakhstan increased oil products imports from Russia, being afraid of the governmental limitation for Russian fuel imports. Despite overstocking at the internal market, in January – March imports increased from 386,000 tons to 458,000 tons. The most rapid growth is observed in supplies of Russian petrol. In January 2013, Kazakhstan was going to decline Russian oil product imports due to broadening of tolling operations with China. In March 2013, they reported that Kazakhstan was going to limit imports of some sort of oil products from Russia.

ArcelorMittal forecasts high demand for steel in CIS

 The demand for steel in CIS will remain high until 2018, ArcelorMittal forecasts.
The company calculated, steel consumption in CIS will increase by 4.2% per year and reach 72 million tons by 2018.

Arcelor Mittal Temirtau will make 270,000 tons of products in March

The management of Arcelor Mittal Temirtau has reported about the main tasks for March.
the production plan for the month is 270,000 tons. They are going to dispatch 250,000 tons. By the middle of the month, the enterprise has made debts, minus 9,000 tons of cast iron and minus 15,000 tons of steel, and 22,000 tons in ready products dispatch.

ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog makes the net loss in the amount of almost 3 billion hryvnias

In 2012, the mining-and-metallurgical integrated works ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog made the net loss in the amount of 2.89 billion hryvnias (in 2011, it made the net profit in the amount of 2.14 billion hryvnias).
As of end of the last year, the undistributed profit was 27.9 billion hryvnias.

Only 3 Ukrainian metal enterprises reduced steel smelting in January – February 2013

In January – February 2013, the Ukrainian metal enterprises increased production of steel by 3.1% to 5.446 million tons, and cast iron by 2.4% to 4.758 million tons.
In February, steel smelting was 2.601 million tons, by 8.6% less than in January 2013, and  by 5.6% more than in February 2012.
Average daily steel smelting increases in the Ukraine. In February it was 93,000 tons compared to 92,000 tons in January.

More than 1,000 Ukrainians to be fired from ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih

The largest metallurgical complex in Ukraine will fire more than 1,000 employees.
The program of voluntary dismissal will be fulfilled by March 29, is said in the official report of the company.
