Norilsk Nickel has elected new Chairman of its Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Norilsk Nickel announced the results of the extraordinary shareholders meeting on Monday that it has elected to the post of the Chairman the former chief of De Beers,the diamond producers, G. Penny, the CEO of Norilsk Nickel V. Potanin stated.
Mr. Penny was been nominated to the post of independent director by Interros holding 28% in the company. The former Chairman of Norilsk Nickel Board of Directors was the Vice CEO of Interros A. Bugrov.

In February, the Kemerovo region increased coal production by 6.3%

In January - February, the Kemerovo region extracted over 29.5 million tons of coal. In February, the Kemerovo region increased coal production by 6.3% versus January 2013, and by 2.7% versus February 2012 to 15.2 million tons. Coking coal production increased by 8.9% to 4.5 million tons versus February 2012.
In January - February, the Kemerovo region dispatched 30.9 million tons of coal, including 14.6 million tons for exports. In February, the Kemerovo region dispatched 14.7 million tons of coal, including 7.1 million tons for exports.

KOWEPO might construct a terminal in Primorie

A new large project of the coal terminal with the capacity of 20 mln tons a year has been announced in Primorie. KOWEPO (Korea) wants to be an investor, which has earlier announced of its investment plans into the Russian energy sector. “Rosenginnering” group (Russia) will be its partner. The majority of the rest planned terminals in the Far East will be captive, and the idea of the coal port of “equal access” is supported by the Government of Russia. Ore-mining and metallurgical companies and state-run mines of the Ukraine have agreed on coking coal purchase volume before the end of 2013, CEO of “Ukrcoke” A.Starovoyt said, Interfax-Ukraine writes.
The Ukraine increased coal production by 15 million tons.

In January, Russia decreased coal production by 2.3% to 27.317 million tons, and increased exports by 5.4% to 9.365 million tons, including 1.416 million tons of coking coal. Russia supplied within the period 694,100 tons to near abroad, 8.671 million tons to far abroad, and 1.208 million tons to APO region. Internal supplies were 15.698 million tons, including 7.858 million tons for energy sector and 3.038 million tons for coking, metal production.

Ministry of Natural Resources has represented the program of resource base reproduction

The Ministry of Natural Resources offers to allocate 3.057 trillion rubles before 2020 to the program of resource base reproduction and use and subsoil geological exploration. The awaited growth in reserves will be 6.01 billion tons of oil, 12.6 trillion cubic m of gas, 7.12 billion tons of coal, 106,000 tons of uranium, 4,072 tons of gold, and 1.6 billion tons of iron ore. The estimated growth in subsoil cost concerning global market prices for the major sorts of minerals (oil, gas, uranium, coal) will be over 173 trillion rubles.
