The RF reduces production of aluminium by 8.2%, nickel – by 8.8%, copper – by 1.6% for 2 months

For the first 2 months of 2013 the RF has reduced production of aluminium by 8.2%, nickel – by 8.8%, copper – by 1.6%, zinc – by 6.4% compared to the same period of 2012, Federal Service for State Statistics (Rosstat) reports.

Russia. Platinum and alloy production is up by 3.9%, palladium is down by 8.7% in Jan-February

Platinum and its alloy production in Russia increased by 3.9% over the first 2 months of 2013, while palladium and alloys production went down by 8.7% against the same period in 2012. Rosstat reports. It does not report on absolute indices of output.

Kazakhmys’s investment programme for 5 years exceeds $6 billion

In 2013, Kazakhmys is about to invest approximately 1 billion tenge into geological exploration in the Zhezkazgansky region. Prospecting operations are planned to be carried out in the central part of the Zhezkazganskaya basin, inclusive of the flanks of the Zhezkazganskaya and Zhilandinskaya group of deposits. They carried out mining operation at the deposit of Itauyz, planned the construction of the second stage of development at the mine Zhomart, and carried out the development of a feasibility study for the deposits Kipshakpai and Karashoshak.

Novoyi mining and metallurgical combine will start gold production in Central Kyzylkumy

Before the end of the year, Novoyi mining and metallurgical combine will start gold production at the new open-cast pit Bessopantau in Central Kyzylkumy. It will reach its projected capacity of 15 million cubic m of ore in 2015; investment will reach $60 million.
The combine is the main gold producer and the monopoly uranium producer in Uzbekistan. Within the latest years, it made over 60 tons of gold, and total gold yield in the state was 90 tons. The combine’s production complex comprises 4 metal works in Navoyi, Zarafshan, Uchkuduk and Zarmitan.

En + Group reconstructs rolling mill at Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant

The Board of Directors of En + Group have discussed the suggestions of the company’s management about the change of parameters of the designed rolling mill at Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant, and ordered to present for discussion the renewed project plan before the end of the year. The main differences of the renewed project from the one elaborated before is the lesser capital intensity and shorter period of recoupment, and the opportunity for the gradual realization.

ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog makes the net loss in the amount of almost 3 billion hryvnias

In 2012, the mining-and-metallurgical integrated works ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog made the net loss in the amount of 2.89 billion hryvnias (in 2011, it made the net profit in the amount of 2.14 billion hryvnias).
As of end of the last year, the undistributed profit was 27.9 billion hryvnias.

UGMK to invest 5 bln roubles into development of Gaysky GOK in 2013

The investment into the capital construction of the Gaysky GOK (enterprise of the raw materials complex of UGMK) in 2013 will make up 5 bln roubles. The priority direction is the construction of pits of the underground mine which is a part of the project of stripping and development of deep horizons of the underground mine of the Gaysky GOK at 830-1,100 m. Its realization will allow to increase the productivity of the mine from 5.6 to 7 mln tons of ore a year.

Labor efficiency at MMK rose 7.4% in 2012

MMK OJSC increased labor efficiency in natural terms by 7.4% in 2012 against 2011. The average monthly production per 1 employee reached 55 reference tons or 962.4 thousand roubles. This is one of the highest results in the metallurgical sector of Russia.

Norilsk Nickel keeps fighting for Norilsk-1

GMK Norilsk nickel sent an appeal against a judgment. In February, the Arbitration court of Moscow found the activity of Rosnedra, while holding of a competitive tender for prospecting and production of nickel, copper, cobalt and associated components in the south part of the deposit Norilsk-1 in Taimyr, legal, they said to Prime agency in Norilsk Nickel.
