In Q2, Evraz increased steel production by 1.1% to 4.08 million tons

In Q2, Evraz increased steel production by 1.1% to 4.079 million tons. Its steel smelting capacities in Russia and North America continued operation with high loading. Steel products yield with exception for inner-group supplies increased by 3.2% to 3.690 million tons. Growth has happened due to enlarged demand for construction rolled steel in Russia and enlargement in rails production by the upgraded rail shop of Evraz West Siberian Metal Works. Ready steel products share increased from 74% to 77%.

Raspadskaya increased coal production in H1, 2013

The production at the enterprises of OJSC “Raspadskaya” made up 3.961 million tons of rough coal in the first half of 2013 (+15% against H1, 2012). In the second quarter of 2013 coal production went down by 25% against the first quarter 2013 and made up 1.7 million tons. The decrease in Q2 is due to a suspension of operation at the “Raspadskaya” and a scheduled resetting of the long face at the mine “MUK-96”, the company says.

In the first 6 months of 2013, miners of Kuzbass produced 98.9 million tons of coal

In the first six months of 2013, miners of Kuzbass produced 98.9 million tons of coal that is by 4.5% more than in the same period of 2012.
In January-June, the production of coking coal grew by 6.7% as compared with the same period of 2012 to 27.1 million tons. In the first six months, the dispatch of coal made up 96.2 million tons, including 47.7 million tons for export.

82 mln.tons of coal has been produced in Kuzbass during 5 months

The miners produced coal by 5.2% more in January-May 2013 than during the same period last year (2012 – 78.2 mln.tons), including in May – 17.6 million tons of coal (+7.3% against May 2012).
The miners in Kuzbass produced 82.3 million tons of coal during the 5 months this year, “EnergyLand.info” writes.

Raspadskaya to increase export of coke coal to Asia

The coal company Raspadskaya, controlled by the Evraz Group, has announced that it increased external sales, including to some Japanese and South Korean steel producers. The growth of export sales reflected demand at the domestic market of Russia, decreased in the first quarter.
To date, Raspadskaya has signed a contract of coal supply with Hyundai Steel and large steel mills of Japan, which weren’t named in accordance with confidentiality agreement.

In Q1 2013, the Kemerovo region increased coal production by 2.1%

In Q1 2013, the coal companies of Kuzbass (Kemerovo region) produced 46.9 million tons of coal, by 2.1% more than in Q1 2012. The production of coking coal was 13.7 million tons – by 11.7% more than in Q1 2012. The regional authorities report that production increased by 0.7 million tons in “Kuzbassrazrezugol” OJSC, by 0.7 million tons in the “Raspadskaya coal company” CJSC, by 0.4 million tons in “Yuzhny Kuzbass” OJSC and by 0.4 million tons in Yuzhkuzbassugol.

In Q1, coal production in the Kemerovo region grew by 2.1%

In January-March of 2013, miners of the Kemerovo region produced 46.9 million tons of coal. This is by 2.1% more than in the first quarter of the last year. In the first three months of this year, the production of coke coal was 13.7 million tons (+11.7%). In the first quarter of 2013, the dispatch made up 47.5 million tons of coal, including 22.8 million tons for export, the press centre of the regional Administration reported to a correspondent of the IA REGNUM.

Steel producers try to make the most of fall in coking coal price

They revise raw material price once per month now, not once per quarter as it was before. NLMK  revises coking coal price once per month now, a source close to the company says to Vedomosti. One of its suppliers Raspadskaya also has transferred to monthly revision of prices, the Director for Strategy Development A. Andreyev says. Other consumers of Raspadskaya did the same. Now the company has closed contracts until the end of April, and then it’s going to close new contracts.

Raspadskaya makes a net loss in 2012

In 2012 Raspadskaya obtained $31 million loss due to reduction of coal prices and demand for the product. A year ago the company’s results proved to be better even after the accident in the pit of the same name. Now Raspadskaya is going to increase coal mining by one third – to 9.5-10 million tons and increase export to 40%. Experts note, this is a right step, though the company will have to stand the period of low margin in conditions of low prices, Kommersant reports.
The Raspadskaya coal company (82% belong to Evraz) summarized its IAS results of 2012. The proceeds reduced by 25% to $532 million, EBIDTA – by 56% to $140.8 million, EBIDTA profitability made up 26% (against 44% in 2011). The company’s loss made up $30.98 million against the profit of $135.7 million in 2011. In 2012 the dynamics of the financial results proved to be worse than in 2011 even in spite of the consequences of the accident at the largest mine of the company. Then the proceeds of the company reduced only by 3.5% and Raspadskaya remained profitable.

In February, the Kemerovo region increased coal production by 6.3%

In January - February, the Kemerovo region extracted over 29.5 million tons of coal. In February, the Kemerovo region increased coal production by 6.3% versus January 2013, and by 2.7% versus February 2012 to 15.2 million tons. Coking coal production increased by 8.9% to 4.5 million tons versus February 2012.
In January - February, the Kemerovo region dispatched 30.9 million tons of coal, including 14.6 million tons for exports. In February, the Kemerovo region dispatched 14.7 million tons of coal, including 7.1 million tons for exports.
