Severstal provided maximum loading of capacities at Izhora pipe plant in 2012

In 2012 the Izhora pipe plant that specializes in the large diameter pipes production out of strip of the Cherepovets metallurgical plant (both enterprises are in the structure of the division Severstal Russia Steel), provided a 100% loading of its production capacities.

It was possible to reach such a result in the conditions of the general fall of the pipe production volumes in Russia due to its participation in the projects of the key consumers of the plant’s products: Gazprom OJSC and Transneft OJSC.

About 45 thousand tons of products in 2012 were shipped for the Southern corridor project of Gazprom. The Izhora pipe plant shipped pipes for the other projects of the energy company: in particular, for the construction of the route gas pipelines “Ukhta-Torzhok” and “Bovanenkovo-Ukhta”.

In 2012, the Izhora pipe plant held supplies for the construction of the 1st stage of the Zapolyarie-Purpe oil pipeline of Transneft and for the repair-operational needs of the enterprise.

The construction completion of a number of pipeline projects and the start of the supplies to the new ones influenced the change of the production structure of the Izhora pipe plant in favor of smaller diameters and thinner walls. It required the development of new technologies, setting stricter requirements of acceptation and control of products, CEO of the Izhora pipe plant, N. Skorokhvatov said.
