Lukoil – Perm to complete geological exploration of shale gas reserves in Komi in autumn

“Lukoil – Perm” will complete the geological exploration of shale gas in Komi in Q3 2015, the head of the press –service of Lukoil – Perm, A. Zorin, said.

“It is too early to speak about the real shale gas reserves at the Kuriino-Patrakovsky structure in Komi due to the continual geological exploration works. The preliminary date of possible results on the results of geological exploration works is the end of Q3 2015”, he said.

By the preliminary information, the reserves of non-traditional resources at the Kuriino-Patrakovsky structure make up about 3 trln tons. After registration of these resources, they can be considered shale gas reserves. Natural gas resources in pure form at this site make up about 70 bln cubic m.

“Now we will drill 5 wells at this site. All the data collected as a result of these works will be analyzed, after that the decision at the highest level of the company in Moscow will be made. We will be the operator in this deal. The investment will play an important role in making the decision on the extraction of shale gas”, Mr. Zorin said.
