Gazprom Neft has completed the first winter season of oil shipment from Yamal by sea

​Gazprom Neft has completed the winter program of oil supply from the Novy Port deposit started in February 2015 and that became the first experience of oil shipment from Yamal by sea in winter in the history of the oil and gas sector of Russia. In total in the framework of the program 8 tankers of Novy Port oil with the total volume of over 110 thousand tons were shipped. All raw materials shipped during the winter season were sold to consumers of the North-Eastern Europe with the payment in roubles.

To execute large-scale commercial oil shipment in ice conditions a unique scheme of loading and transportation by tankers of high ice class towed by ice breakers was worked out. “Atomflot” organized the route of tankers by the Northern Sea Route.

The project of oil shipment in winter to sea tankers by a temporary scheme underwent the ecological expertise and was approved at the public hearings in December 2014. The equipment applied in the process of pumping is certified and has the approvals of Rosteknadzor. A few trainings were held before the start of shipment.
