Russia and Norway to agree upon Arctic
Russia and Norway will sign an agreement upon the order of collection of seismic data by the demarcation line at the continental shelf of the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean.
The consultations were held under the supervision of the head of the Department of international cooperation of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, N. Inamov, who said that the Russia-Norway relationships are long-standing and stable. Despite of the current geopolitical situation which influenced the 2-party cooperation, there are spheres of cooperation which are not to face the influence of the political environment.
It refers the protection of the fragile ecosystem of the Arctic region and the use of its resource base taking into account the growth of the high ecologic requirements, Inamov said.
According to the head of the Department for oil and energy of Norway, U. Lindset, the cooperation of Russia and Norway in the region has a long history and has a pragmatic basis aimed for the settlement of certain issues on the development of resources.
