" Gazprom " postpones the launch of the "LNG - Vladivostok" plant in Primorye for two years.

The gas holding "sacrificed" the plant in Primorsky Kray for the sake of the Sakhalin oil field.

"Gazprom"  has postponed the launch of the "LNG - Vladivostok" plant in Primorsky Kray from 2018 to 2019-2020. The shift in the project's timing in Primorsky Kray has occurred due to the new projects in Sakhalin, that the state company considered a priority. In particular, it plans to develop a new oil field and expand the existing "Sakhalin- 2" plant, RIA PrimaMedia stated referring to the "Vedomosti" newspaper.

There are several reasons that push the gas holding to postpone the construction and launch of the "LNG - Vladivostok" plant in Primorsky Kray. The first and foremost – is the priority of oil exploration over the development of gas production.

"According to the technology of oil and gas fields, oil is developed first and then - gas. So the LNG plant in Vladivostok can be pushed in this situation for a long perspective" - Sergey Karpenko, the Minister of Economic Development of the Sakhalin Region stated to "Interfax" on Monday, 24 February.
