Gold production growth to depend on the development of new deposits

Gold production in the Irkutsk region, which produced historic high 20.7 tons in 2013, is through without such large deposits as Chertovo Koryto and Sukhoy Log, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Irkutsk region O.Kravchuk said. OJSC “Polyus Gold” carries out geological exploration at the Chertovo Koryto now. While the development prospect of Sukhoy Log, one of the world’s largest deposits, is quite dim to date.
Sukhoy Log was opened in the Bodaibinsky district in 1961. The deposit has been included into the strategic ones.
