OMK supplies the first shipment of pipes for South Stream to Bulgaria

Over the weekend, the United Metallurgical Company (OMK, Moscow) delivered the first batch of pipes for the construction of the first line of the South Stream gas pipeline’s underwater section by ship from Rostov-on-Don to the Bulgarian port of Burgas.

In general, OMK will supply over 600 km of pipes for the construction of the first and second strings of the South Stream’s underwater part, which is 35% percent of the total length of both lines. Pipes with diameter of 813 mm and wall thickness of 39 mm are made under standard DNV-OSF101 (2010) and technical specifications of South Stream Transport.
