This year Uzbekistan plans to increase copper production.

JSC "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex" – the monopolistic producer of copper in Uzbekistan – plans to increase the copper production by 2% - up to 100 thousand tons this year, Trend.az informs.

As previously reported, in 2013 the company increased the production of refined copper by almost 3% - up to 98 thousand tons.

AMMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The complex consists of eight mining companies, five concentrators, two metallurgical plants, sulfuric acid production, mechanical repair and lime plants. The company produces refined copper, zinc, iron, lead concentrate and other products. AMMC provides about 90 % of silver and 20 % of gold production in Uzbekistan.
