Turkish Stream to be discussed by Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Any progress in negotiations between Moscow and Ankara on the first line of Turkish Stream can be achieved only by the end of autumn. By this time, a new Government in Turkey should finally appear, after which the meeting of the Presidents of the two countries is scheduled. At the same time, they will be likely to talk only about gas deliveries to Turkey, and the possible transit of Russian gas to Europe is not a subject of the negotiations, sources of the Kommersant say.

Vladimir Putin will meet his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the autumn, they will discuss the future of the Turkish Stream project, the President's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov reported on Friday. At the previous meeting of the Supreme State Council of the two countries in Ankara in December 2014, the leaders announced the beginning of the project. It was assumed that the next meeting would be held in Kazan in October, but, according to Mr. Peskov, time and place of the meeting "will be clarified". According to the Kommersant’s interlocutors in the Russian Government, Putin and Erdogan have agreed to meet after the Turkish new Government is formed, and in the case of re-election, this process may be delayed until the end of autumn.
