Presidents of Turkmenistan and China to start industrial operation of large gas field

The Chinese president, Xi Jinping starts his tour to Central Asia with a state visit to Turkmenistan, which will last two days. The main issue is longtermness and reliability of Turkmen gas supplies to China via the Trans-Asian gas pipeline.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Xi Jinping will visit the gas field Galkynysh, where a ceremonial start of the industrial production will take place. On the results of the visit, it’s planned to sign a package of documents, aimed at “the use of the colossal economic and resource potential of the partnership”, the press centre of the Turkmen Government reported. According to it, “the opening of a complex of industrial facilities at the Galkynysh gas deposit is timed for the visit of the China’s Head”. This deposit is the second largest in the world with its reserves in the amount of 26.2 billion cubic meters and is considered by Beijing as the main raw materials base of Trans-Asia deliveries.
