EU Commissioner: Gazprom abuses its position in the market

Gazprom abuses its dominant position in the market in gas pricing for European consumers.

This statement was made by the EU Commissioner on Issues of Competition, Joaquin Almunia.

“The power of Gazprom allows it to implement a pricing policy, which, as we suspect, doesn’t meet the market principles. We are concerned that as a result of this large differences of prices in Europe are kept through territorial limits in contracts for gas supply and through attempts to exclude other gas suppliers,” – he said.

According to the EU Commissioner, the Russian gas giant has advantages and abuses them during fair gas prices assessment.
