Turkey looks for variants in case of LPG supply reduction from Russia

​Due to the worsening of relationships between Moscow and Ankara, Turkey has started to look for variants of replacement of LNG supply from Russia. According to traders, LPG export from Russia to Turkey in 2016 might fall by a quarter, Reuters reports.

Turkish companies not just worry about a possible reduction of LPG supply from Russia due to the current situation, they are getting ready for that, a trader from the LPG market said.

Now Turkey is one of the largest LNG sales markets. The most widely spread LPG product is the propane-butane mixture which is used in Turkey for domestic needs and as a fuel for cars. Ankara considers variants of growing the supply of such gases from Algeria and import from the USA.

It might be more expensive but the variant of future supplies from other countries is being worked out, the trader added.

However, meanwhile Russia seems not to consider variants of LPG export reduction to Turkey. Ankara is likely to start this process. But domestic companies are ready for that.
