Saudi Arabia and Russia hold secret negotiations on oil
Saudi Arabia has promised to cut its oil production in exchange for the Kremlin's refusal to support Syrian President Bashar Assad, the New York Times writes, citing a source in the administration of the US President Barack Obama.
According to the source, during the visit of the Saudi delegation to Moscow in November 2014 an important topic of the talks was the Syrian issue. Over the past few months, the two countries had tense dialogue in an informal format. Information about the negotiations was obtained by the edition from several sources in diplomatic, intelligence and political circles, who spoke on condition of anonymity to comply with diplomatic protocol.
