Novolipetsk Steel saves over 850 million rubles due to energy-efficient technologies

In 2013, NLMK saved over 850 million rubles due to events on improvement of energy sources use efficiency, the company’s press centre reported.

The press centre specified that in 2013 rate of energy consumption at the main industrial site in Lipetsk decreased to 5.67 Gcal per ton against 5.74 Gcal in the previous year.

The enterprise explained that the reduction of energy consumption became possible due to increasing the share of the own electricity generation, reduction of consumption of fuel and energy sources in the steelmaking and rolling production, decrease of the coke consumption for cast iron production and launch of pulverized coal injection technology at blast furnace №5, as well as increase in use of steam from utilizing units.
