Egypt and Gazprom sign an agreement on LNG supply

​The Government of Egypt plans to sign an agreement with Gazprom on the supply of natural gas from Russia. It is planned to sign the agreement within the coming 2 weeks, the Minister of Oil and Natural Resources, Sh. Ismail, said.

The Minister said that Egypt would receive the gas from Russia by 8 lots of LNG yearly within 5 years. The supplies will start in 2016.

“Currently we are at the final stage of signing the contracts with Gazprom…”, Mr. Ismail said.

He said that the negotiations upon the supplies of a few lots of Russian LNG this year are being held.

“We want the Russian company to participate in the geological exploration sphere of Egypt in those regions where extraction is held and natural gas is being searched for”, the Minister added.
