NLMK group doubled metal products shipment in containers in 2015

​NLMK group in 2015 doubled the export of electric technical steel to 100 thousand tons. The growth of operations in containers allowed to save about 110 mln roubles.

The previous scheme of shipment presupposed the delivery of finished products by road and railway to the ports where the rolled products were loaded into containers. From 2013 at Visa-Steel in Yekaterinburg and from 2014 at the Lipetsk site the loading of coiled rolled products of dynamo and transformer steel into containers is held on the territory of the enterprise.

Currently about 20% of the total volume of electric steel is shipped this way.

The use of containers compared with cargo shipment in railway wagons allows to significantly reduce the expenditure for transportation in the key directions, reduce the period of delivery to customers and reduce the opportunity of damage of finished products in the process of transportation and loading-unloading works.
