In H1, 2015, demand for PVC suspension in Russia fell by 12%

In the first six months of this year, the demand for polyvinyl chloride suspension (PVC-C) on the Russian market declined by 12% and amounted to just over 384 thousand tons. The devaluation of the ruble and the increase in the domestic production allowed the country to significantly reduce the volume of imports.

Peak of the demand for PVC-C occurred in 2011, after which the need for this polymer began to gradually decline. Last year, the demand for PVC decreased by 5%, and in the first six months of this year, the fall was accelerated, the final consumption rate decreased to 384 thousand tons against 436.7 thousand tons in the previous year. Start of the new production in the Nizhny Novgorod region in September last year allowed the country to significantly reduce the dependence on imports and the low demand and the devaluation of the ruble at the beginning of the year made enabled to increase the export of PVC.
