Rosneft intends to make a ship building monopoly out of “Zvezda”

Rosneft is trying to oblige other oil and gas companies to construct vessels only at the “Zvezda” shipyard, I. Sechin wrote to V. Putin in mid July.

I. Sechin asks V. Putin to work out measures of support for “Zvezda”. The President is reported to have ordered members of the Government to look into it.

The main problem of the Far Eastern shipbuilding center and ship repair (“Zvezda” is the head company) is the possible deficit of orders. Rosneft suggests legally stimulating the placing all orders of Russian companies for the construction of vessels and sea equipment in Russia at “Zvezda” as well as forming a single site for  placing orders on the basis of the Far Eastern shipbuilding center and ship repair. Rosneft thinks that orders for vessels attracted for long-term lease should be placed at the Far Eastern shipbuilding center and ship repair.
