Cold winter 2014: who to suffer if Russian gas not shipped to Europe?

If the Russian gas supply is shutdown, if it happens this winter, it will mostly affect Finland, Poland and Turkey, the research of the Energy and Economy Institution of the Cologne University says. The German experts have imagines various scenarios at which the gas ban lasts from 1 to 9 months. In the longest case (though less probable) not only Poland, Finland and Turkey might stay without gas but also France and Germany. Gazprom will also suffer: each month it will lose up to $5.91  bln of revenue.

“Taking into account the level of ambiguity surrounding the future development of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, one might imagine further sanctions, such as embargo for the gas supply to Europe – or in the form of the export embargo from Russia, or in the form of the ban for imports from the EU”, is said in the report.
