Upgrade of refineries in Kazakhstan may last long

Terms of implementation of the Shymkent refinery modernization project in Kazakhstan may shift, if oil prices don’t stabilize. This was announced by Petro Kazkahstan Oil Products’ director of production Bolat Baetov.

Baetov noted that as a result of the fall in the oil prices to the level of nearly $40 per barrel, all countries that depend on oil revenues, including Kazakhstan, revised their budgets.
In November, the Kazakh Energy Minister Vladimir Shkolnik said that he didn’t rule out the possibility of postponement of the completion of the Pavlodar and Shymkent refineries modernization because of the funding problems.
