The EC delays consideration of deal on purchase of DESFA’s shares by SOCAR

The European Commission has temporarily suspended its consideration of the deal on the acquisition of 66% stake in the Greek transmission system operator DESFA by SOCAR.

"The European Commission "suspended watch" in the formal period of consideration of this issue, which will give more time to adopt a solution that will satisfy both parties, as well as for its future analysis by the European Commission," – SOCAR reports.

The temporary suspension of the process in this way is one of the usual things during consideration of agreements on mergers or acquisitions of the participants, and the final decision on this issue is the prerogative of the European Commission, SOCAR notes.
