EU Commission has emphasized priority of Southern Gas Corridor

The new coalition headed by the “Syriza” block has rejected any further privatization of energy enterprises, first of all DEPA. However, judging by the announcement of the Minister of production reform, environment and energy protection, P. Lafazanis, they are waiting on the issue of DESFA privatization, the agreement on the privatization of which was signed in late 2013 with SOCAR. According to the Minister, the Government plans to wait for the decision of the EU Commission which still considers the issue of this deal’s meeting the law on competition and EU antimonopoly rules. “The Government of Greece will wait for the decision of the EU Commission and determine its further steps”, Mr. Lafazanis said.
