Rusal’s enterprises decrease railway dispatches

In January of 2013, the main enterprises of Rusal decreased aluminium rail shipment by 7.8% in yearly comparison to 208.3 thousand tons, the Interfax reports, referring to Russian Railways.

200.3 thousand tons was exported that is by 6.2% less than in January of 2012. The volume of domestic shipment fell by 34.32% to 8 thousand tons.

In January, the alumina dispatch grew by 6.3% to 645.5 thousand tons. Import transportation volume increased by .3% to 436.5 thousand tons, and domestic shipment – by 0.6% to 206 thousand tons.

The data of Russian Railways differs from Rusal’s figures, which the company usually provides later. According to Rusal, the differences with the Russian Railways’ statistics take place because Railways registers aluminium, transported in containers, as a container load, with no breakdown on load types.
