UC Rusal announces of the launch of electrolysis unit working at current intensity of 400 kA

UC Rusal, which is in the top-3 world leaders on aluminium production, announces of the launch of the highest capacity electrolysis unit in Russia that works at the current intensity of 400 kA. The new electrolysis bath became the 2nd unique development of Rusal after the electrolysis unit of 300 kA current intensity invented in 2003.

The launch of the PA-400 electrolysis unit at the Sayanogorsk aluminium plant (the Republic of Khakasiya) was the result of works on foundation of the technological base as one of the main direction of the company’s strategic development. The new electrolysis unit will provide high ecological and technical and economic results: the expected output by the current intensity will be 94%, the electric energy consumption – less than 13,800 kWh per ton of aluminium. The PA-400 was developed by the engineering and technological enter of Rusal – a special subdivision of the company.
