In 2015, the Samara region is going to extract 16 million tons of oil

In 2015, the Samara region is going to extract 16 million tons of oil, the acting Minister of Industry and Technologies of the Samara region S. Bezrukov stated. Oil production was 15.3 million tons in 2013, 4% more versus 2012, and 7.7 million tons in H1 2014, by 3.2% more versus H1 2013. Last year total oil refining was 22 million tons.

Mr. Bezrukov explains the growth in oil production in the region by the major investment of the oil producers. In particular, they invested into their development over 79 billion rubles in 2009-2013, and are going to invest over 152 billion rubles in 2014 – 2018. Investment is made into the drilling of the new production wells, new deposits development, the use of innovation technologies for oil production and growth in the associated gas use via its refining.
