In 5 years a mining plant to appear in the Arkhangelsk region

​The reserves of lead-zinc ore of the Pavlovskoe deposit at the Novaya Zemlya has turned out to by a quarter more than was previously assessed – about 46 mln tons. a new stage of its development will be the project of the mining plant and pier complex, is reported referring to the CEO of “First mining company”, A. Lukin.

The company has held the additional exploration of the deposit and counted its reserves.

They are by a quarter more than was assessed. Probable reserves of lead-zinc ore made up about 46 mln tons, previous assessment -37 mln tons, metal contents is a bit more than 3 mln tons, was – 2.4 mln tons, Lukin said. The new data has been submitted to State Committee for Reserves which is to approve them in early 2016, he said.

In early 2018 after the state expertise of the project, it is planned to start the construction and in early 2020 we will produce the first goods – zinc and lead (with high silver content) concentrates. Lead will go to the domestic market which faces a deficit of it, zinc will be partially shipped to the Chelyabinsk metallurgical plant, the main part of zinc concentrate will be exported for processing to the plants of Boliden (Sweden) in Norway and Finland.
