Gazpromneft asks for new benefits for the shelf

The multiplying coefficient to costs of the search and evaluation of offshore fields in the Arctic must be used in the calculation of income tax. Such a proposal has been voiced by general director of Gazpromneft Alexander Dyukov in a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister ,Alexander Khloponin.

According to him, it will help to stimulate geological exploration. The mechanism is now discussed by Ministries, but it is planned to apply it only for onshore fields.

Dyukov considers it’s necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the geological exploration on the continental shelf. Projects here have low investment attractiveness, the specifications of the geological exploration are difficult due to geographical and climatic characteristics. Offshore projects are more capital intensive as compared with projects on the land and assume a multiplier effect in all sectors, the Gazpromneft’s general director writes.
