Nizhny Tagil metallurgical plant has started to produce 12-meter slabs

​At the Nizhny Tagil metallurgical plant Evraz NTMK the modernization of the CC machine #4 was held. It allowed the converter shop to start the shipment of long slabs of up to 12 m. Previously the CC machine-4 could produce only 10-meter slabs. The first lot of the new goods at the volume of 4 thousand tons has already been shipped to consumers.

The length of the rolling table of the blank production site was increased so as to produce new goods during the capital repair, stamper was transferred, the specialists of the IT department additionally worked out the software which allowed to mark the slabs and transfer the blanks of various length to the  stacker.

Currently the converter shop of Evraz NTMK is one of the modern steel making capacities in Russia. In the past few years a full-scale reconstruction was held there. Today the shop has the converter subdivision with four 160-ton converters; the site of out-of-the-furnace steel treatment, including 4 modern ladle-furnaces and 2 circulation vacuum vessels; the site of continuous steel pouring out of  CC machines. By means of the new equipment of the converter shop Evraz NTMK has mastered over 1,000 various marks of steel with complex chemicals contents.
