Uzbekistan looks for hydrocarbons in the Aral Sea

A consortium of investors has started drilling an exploratory well Meros-1Ex on the Meros structure in the Aral Sea, identified due to data of Lukoil Overseas (the operator of the foreign upstream-projects of Lukoil). The project depth of the well is 3280 meters, the target horizon is Jurassic deposits.
The drilling of the well is carried out by a Chinese contractor XIBU Drilling Engineering Company.
