European Commission and German regulator to decide on fate of Nord Stream-2 together

The European Commission will determine what legal rules of the European Union are applicable to the project of construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline in collaboration with the national German market regulator (Bundesnetzagentur). Such results of the today's meeting of the EU Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete with heads of Nord Stream AG Matthias Warnig and Gerhard Schroeder in Brussels were announced by the EC representative Anna-Kaisa Itkonen.

"The European Commission is in the collaboration with the German national regulator to get more information about this project. On this basis, the European Commission will make its conclusions about what the EU rules are applicable to the Nord Stream-2 project and what further actions should be taken by the European Commission," - said Itkonen.
