35 thousand tons of oil to be extracted at Kashagan until the end of 2016

​Until the end of 2016 it is planned to extract 35 thousand tons of oil at the Kashagan deposit, the Minister of energy K. Bozumbaev said.

In December we expect the start-up extraction volume at the Kashagan deposit of about 35 thousand tons, he said.

The works on the replacement of the gas pipeline are held according to the schedule at the Kashagan deposit. The launch of the deposit is planned for the end of 2016, he said.

The extraction at the Kashagan deposit was shut down in September 2013, 2 weeks after its start, due to the gas leakage. KMG, Eni, ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch Shell, Total, Inpex and CNPC participate in the project.

Commercial reserves of the Kashagan deposit are assessed at 4.8 bln tons of oil. The total oil reserves make up 38 bln barrels, recoverable – 10 bln barrels, gas reserves – over 1 trln cubic m. The total volume of investment until now makes up abuot $50 bln.
