Eni files an application on development of hydrocarbons at shallow water areas of Ukrainian shelf

One of the largest energy companies in the world, Italian Eni has filed an application on the development of hydrocarbons at the shallow water areas of Ukrainian shelf, the Ukrainian Minister of Energy and the Coal Industry, Eduard Stavitsky reported on Friday.

Against the background of protracted and fruitless negotiations with Russia on a decrease of the price of imported gas, the Ukraine increases its own production, it has placed special hopes on the development of the Black Sea’s shelf, as well as the production of shale gas. The country’s Government doesn’t rule out that in case of realization of optimistic forecasts, the Ukraine can stop to import gas with time.
