PGNiG vs Gazprom
The Polish gas company PGNiG has sent an application to “Gazprom export” for the reconsideration of the price for the Russian gas shipped by the contract as of September 25th 1996, RBC writes.
PGNiG explains its initiative by the “significant changes in the European energy market taken place for the past years”. According to the contract, if the parties don’t come to an agreement within 6 months, PGNiG will gain the right to start the Arbitration proceedings.
The contract for gas supply to Poland by the “Yamal-Europe” gas pipeline is valid until 2022 and presupposes the purchase of up to 10.2 bln cubic m of gas a year. In 2013 Gazprom shipped 9.79 bln cubic m of gas to Poland.
