Lukoil decides to fight for disputed site in Spitsbergen square
Lukoil has included the Grey Fox site in the Spitsbergen area, which is considered a free from economic activity zone, in the next round of the auction, which is conducted by Norway. This was reported by sources in the industry.
According to them, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum recently decided to expand the list of distributed plots of hydrocarbons, offered to energy companies within the 23rd licensing round on account of Gray Fox. The plot is located in the zone Spitsbergen square, which, according to the international law, is considered to be a zone, which is free of the economic activities of any state (the right for the area was claimed by Norway and Russia at different times).
