G7: Europe not to lose energy dependence on Russia in the near future

Europe will depend on Russian gas for a number of years, the Ministers of Energy of G7 believe. They condemn the use of an “energy weapon” as an instrument of political pressure, Reuters reports. The G7 Ministers of Energy met in Rome. 

“I know no one, who could tell me the way Europe could reduce dependence on Russian gas imports within a short period of time,” the German Minister of the Economy and Energy, Z.Gabriel said, RBK writes.

During the meeting in Rome the ministers asserted they were worried about the energy security of their countries due to the events in Ukraine because of violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukraine by Russia.”
