Shale gas fracking not to reduce EU dependence on gas import, G.Oettinger

Shale gas production by hydra fracturing method will not be able to reduce the dependence of the EU on gas imports significantly. The EU Commissioner G.Oettinger said.
“We will be able to meet about 1/10th of our demand by this method in the long term. Thus, the dependence on imports will not increase with the reduction of gas production at our traditional deposits,” the EU Commissioner said. He has also called Germany not to reject the hydro fracturing method completely.
