Reverse supplies of gas from Europe become to dramatically decrease

The current situation on the European gas market has shown what the Ukraine must do to become a fully functional gas hub. Even a insignificant cold snap led to the dramatic decrease of the reverse gas flow from Hungary and Poland, and their prices have become unattractive, Kommersant Ukraina writes. In order to realize the aspirations of the Ukraine to use market mechanisms to reduce their energy dependence on Russia, it is necessary to invest $50-60 million into the development of additional twinning pipeline, experts say.
 
As the company-operator of the Hungarian transmission system FGSZ Ltd stated on Friday, the volume of the gas import from Hungary to the Ukraine decreased from 9 million to 3.9-5.2 million cubic meters per day. The Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-System reported that the gas supplies through Poland were suspended from October. At the end of the last  month the daily import made up over 3 million cubic meters.
