Gold mineral reserve base of Russia and its prospects till 2035

An overview of the gold base of Russia and prospects of its use for the period of 2015-2035 was made by head of the long-term planning of Rosgeologiya Alexander Karpuzov at the round table "The involvement of new types of primary processing of gold-bearing raw materials" in Moscow on October 1.

The gold mineral reserve base of the Russian Federation is one of the largest in the world. Having these reserves Russia ranks the second in the world after South Africa. As of January the 1st, 2014, the total number of gold deposits was 5935, including 515 indigenous (350 native gold ones and 165 complex) and 5420 alluvial deposits. Their total reserves make up 12.9 million tons, including 11.66 thousand tons in indigenous deposits (8.28 tons – in native gold ones and 3.38 thousand tons - in the complex deposits), and in alluvial ones - 1.25 thousand tons.

The registered forecasted resources of gold are also highly significant, as of January the 1st of 2014, the reserves of the P1 + P2 category were 15.7 thousand tons, P3 - 23.5 thousand tons, which defines the significant prospects of new discoveries.
