UC RusAl increased aluminium production in 2012 up to 4.173 million tons

The world largest aluminium producer UC “RusAl” increased aluminium production in 2012 by 1% to 4.173 million tons against 4.123 million tons in 2011, is said in a statement of the company.

The increase was mainly due to the restoration of production volumes at the Sayanogorsky aluminium plant, which it was partially suspended in 2011 due to a bridge breakdown.

Aluminium production volume in Q4, 2012 went down by 2% to 1.038 million tons against 1.060 million tons in Q4, 2011.

Alumina production in 2012 reached 7.477 million tons. It went down by 8% against 2011 (8.154 million tons). Alumina production in Q4, 2012 went down by 13% to 1.806 million tons against 2.082 million tons in Q4, 2011.

Bauxite production volume in 2012 made up 12.365 million tons. It is by 8% less than in 2011 (13.473 million tons). Bauxite production in Q4, 2012 went down by 15% to 2.788 million tons against 3.288 million tons in Q4, 2011.

“RusAl” is one of the world leaders in aluminium sector. The share of the company makes up 10% in aluminium and 10% in alumina production in the world. There staff of the company numbers 76 thousand people. “RusAl” operates in 19 countries on 5 continents. It mainly sells products on the markets of Europe,North America, South-Eastern Asia, RIA Novosti reports.
