Rosneft demands the access to the gas pipelines in the Courts

As planned Rosneft has started moving its conflict with Gazprom to the Courts. Not waiting for the decision of FAS about access to the Trans-Sakhalin gas pipeline, Rosneft has filed a claim to the Court against the owner of the pipeline – Sakhalin Energy (Gazprom holds 50%). According to Kommersant, FAS can still support the claims of the oil company, then the claim will strengthen its positions, analysts think. Meanwhile the Court hearing might become a precedent in the dispute about access to the gas transport system of Gazprom, including to the export pipeline “Power of Siberia” to China.

Rosneft has made a claim to the Arbitration Court of the Sakhalin region against Sakhalin Energy, the operator of “Sakhalin-2” and the owner of the Trans-Sakhalin gas pipeline. Rosneft explained to Kommersant that the company is going to put in question the refusal of Sakhalin Energy to give Rosneft access to this gas pipeline. In April Rosneft filed a respective claim to FAS but the regulator hasn’t made a decision as yet. A source of Kommersant in Rosneft reminded that with the absence of the active reaction of FAS the company could file a claim to the Court. Sakhalin Energy refused to comment.
