Norilsk Nickel forecasts nickel deficiency on the world market

If the ban on crude nickel ore exports is not eased and continues functioning, the global market of nickel will have significant structural changes. In particular, a nickel deficiency will develop, they say in GMK “Norilsk Nickel”.
“The ban concerned lateritic nickel ore, the main raw material for the production of crude ferronickel in China. We think that the ore, imported to China from New Caledonia and the Philippines will not be enough to make good the deficiency and support crude ferronickel production at the previous level.”
