Rosneft sends an expedition to the Arctic

An arctic expedition Kara-Winter-2015, organized by Rosneft with the support of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) has started operation. The participants of the expedition started out on board icebreaker “Yamal”.

The icebreaker will go along the arctic coast of the Russian Federation. During 55 days, the specialists will test the steadiness of the oil platforms in the complex weather conditions, when the ice in the Arctic is very hard. The expedition will also carry out seismic study of the northern seas, in particular, Laptev Sea, where probability of earthquakes is much higher.
