Gazprom ready to give Lithuania a gas discount
Gazprom will give Lithuania a gas discount if the country takes into account the company’s investments in Lietuvos dujos, guarantees gas transit to Kaliningrad and calls off the lawsuits. Previously the monopoly insisted on the stopping of the partition of Lietuvos dujos, though Lithuania was against it. Now Gazprom is ready to consider possible selling of its share in the gas transportation company Amber Grid to Lithuania.
On Friday the Head of Gazprom, Aleksei Miller met the Lithuanian PM, Algirdas Butkevičius in Vilnius and claimed if an agreement with Lithuania is signed the gas price for the country could be reduced and the parties would try to complete the negotiations as soon as possible. The agreement must include the records of the investments in Lietuvos dujos, gas transit to Kaliningrad and commercial issues. Algirdas Butkevičius specified, the negotiations would go on when Gazprom provides its written proposals.
