Boguchansk electric metallurgical plant to be put into operation in October

The Boguchansk electric metallurgical plant has become the first project of the Government-private partnership in the metallurgical sector of Russia.

UC Rusal plans to launch the Boguchansk electric metallurgical plant on aluminum production until the end of October, CEO of RusHydro, N. Shulginov, said.

The construction of the Boguchansk electric metallurgical plant is held in the framework of the Boguchansk electric metallurgical union on the joint realization of which Rusal and RusHydro agreed in May 2006. The planned capacity of the enterprise is 600 thousand tons of aluminum a year. The launch was repeatedly postponed. In June the ex-head of RusHydro, E. Dod, said that it might be put into operation in Q3 2015, however, it didn’t happen.
