Gazprom to appeal the granting of Sakhalin Energy’s capacities to Rosneft

​The Supreme Court has registered the cassation appeals of Gazprom and Sakhalin Energy concerning the decision of the Court that made Sakhalin Energy provide the access to the free capacities of the pipeline to Rosneft.

In September the Arbitration Court of the Far East decided that  Sakhalin Energy doesn’t have to guarantee Rosneft the pumping of 8 bln cubic m of gas a year but has to provide the access to 2 bln cubic m of gas a year.

In July 2014 Rosneft announced of its intention to get the access to Sakhalin-2 so as to have an opportunity of gas pumping of up to 8 bln cubic m a year.

The company plans to construct the Far Eastern LNG plant on the resource base of the Sakhalin-1, North-Veninsky and northern part of the Chaivo deposit in Sakhalin with the capacity of 5 mln tons a year.

ExxonMobil is the partner in this project. The access to Sahalin-2 is needed so as the project would require less financial investment.
