Oil extraction in Yamal Nenets Autonomous Area might fall this year

Oil extraction in the Yamal Nenets Autonomous Area on the results of 2015 might make up 20.7 mln tons – by 4% less than in 2014, the Governor D. Kobylkin said.

In 2014, 21.5 mln tons of oil were extracted in the Yamal Nenets Autonomous Area, the forecast for 2015 is 20.7 mln tons (96% of 2014), Kobylkin said.

Oil and gas extraction dependent on their types is multidirectional and is determined by objective factors.

At the presence of reserve of extraction and infrastructure capacities in the gas sector, the level of gas extraction is determined by the demand in the domestic and European markets only. Oil extraction fall is explained by the infrastructure restrictions only that prevent the putting of new deposits into industrial development, Kobylkin said.

He said that in the east of the region the Messoyakha oil extraction center is being developed. Its oil and condensate resource base is over 3 bln tons.
